Omens
Last night , I had a very strange dream. I won't confuse you with the details, for it was a dream of omen. This presents me with a good opportunity to explain what an omen is.
An omen is not what many people think; a clear revelation of future events. It is far more subtle.
It is said that in the temple of Aesculapius, where people went for healing through dreams (in Egypt the place of healing was called the house of dreams), there is no evidence that any of the dreams were interpreted. When I speak of of oracular awareness, it is the same. It is entering a space (soul space) that speaks in symbols. It changes something inside you, the soul understands. I can only describe it in feeling terms. It gets confusing when you have to translate, fit it into the rules of the physical world. The soul strives for union.
I find it interesting that in studies on Lucid Dreaming it was found that;"
to our brains, dreaming of doing something is the equivalent to actually doing it. This finding explains why dreams seem so real. To the brain they are real…Indeed, since dream activities produces real physiological effects, lucid dreaming may be useful for facilitating the functioning of the immune system."

This has always been maintained by the Shamans, who uses a technique called "dream weaving", to change the outerworld. If you can change a dream, you can also restructure the patterns that gave rise to it. You can heal the outer world by changing the inner world.
The mind makes no distinction between memories regardless of the source. For the mind, the ones that are most real are the ones with the greatest sensory impact. In the world we live in we have to make distinctions and this is where it gets confusing.
Let me explain omens in another way. Something emanates from an omen. For lack of a better term I will call it a subtle energy. This subtle energy pervades an omen. Trying to explain an omen in rational terms has no meaning because it triggers specific feelings inside of you. These feelings in turn activates emotins that then activates thoughts/or memories. These then activates a train of thoughts inside of you, on this you would base your following decisions, and so create the future by your direct reaction to the omen.
Omens come into our awareness, by something that clearly appear into our point of focus, or point of vision. This could be in the form of dreams, thoughts that suddenly arrive in our minds, an object that suddenly come in focus or suddenly appear beautiful. Do not try to analyse an omen when it first comes into awareness, just focus on it, and observe the emotions that you feel in reaction to it, just feel it without feeling any judgement about what you feel, you just feel until you feel your attention distracted. Then you can look at what you felt and what it brings up in you. Normally it is issues that you have to deal with or else...
How can I say all this about omens? For 16 years now I have actively and in a disciplined way, been observing my thoughts, emotions and feelings. This this is how I observed it works. I believe that disasters are always omens for it activates within us as humanity a clear point of focus, which activates within feelings and emotions. Disasters are not just there to show us how puny we are in the universe but it also focuses our attention to issues that we have not dealt with and have long ignored. Just like suppressed emotions that will the longer suppressed erupt with unexpected ferosity, and when you least expect it.
The world is in a crisis, there is no denying it. We can no longer say "not in our time."
What really struck me about the tragedy in New Orleans, was, how thin the veneer of civilization is. How thin the line between order and chaos. We think that if we surround ourselves with material protection, we will be safe. We have seen in a very short space of time, all over the world, several examples in different circumstances, how quickly everything we have known, or worked for, or held dear can be gone, lost. So devastatingly fast our perception of the world changes and we are left with only ourselves.
In the way the world is operating at the moment, all of our human energy is going into producing, acquiring and securing material goods. As we have seen in recent disasters, those material goods affects us no protection, and it adds to us simply a veneer of civilization. We call ourselves civilized human beings, but are we truly civilized beneath the veneer.
When all is taken away from you, only you remain, and what are you without the veneer of civilization? What have you done to civilize that which will remain? Is not a mark of a truly civilized human being not the ability to care for others and the world around them?
Does not our true intelligence lie in our ability to interact constructively with the world around us.How do we relate to the world around us? Do we care more about material wealth than we care about life? When you truly care about something or someone, you look also to their future with caring, you will be aware of their every need and how your decisions might affect them. With true caring we will look at the problems that faces the world, and solve them with a real willingness, not just politically correct gestures.
"It is necessary that a quantum leap is made. One cannot apply cosmetic change. They must contemplate fundamentally, cut to the bone, and have the courage to look change squarely in the eye and accept the challenge. If we are only reactive, if we are only prepared to compromise a little here and a little bit there and then suddenly insist on another compromise somewhere else, we will get stuck so quickly. Sustainable peace can only be built on the foundations of tolerance, and good relations, and of justice towards all involved. " - FW de Klerk

Through caring I find meaning in my life. Meaning is gained through the
experience of caring. Through work on our part we gain knowledge, by
applying the knowledge with loving care, we gain wisdom. Wisdom can not be
learned, only earned. Meaning is earned through caring. It does seem as if
freedom is gained through caring too. It is through the caring of the
parents that a child can enter the adult world carefree, open to find their
own meaning. An abused child enters the world with a burden before they
even start their journey. If a person seeks his freedom without care for
the world around him, he will soon find himself burdened by his own quilt,
imprisoned within himself behind walls of mistrust.
